The Verne Miller Story movie made in Alabama

The Verne Miller story is directed by Rob Hewitt and was released on 29 April 1988. The movie was filmed in Alabama but I am not sure exactly where in Alabama this movie took place. Rod Hewitt is a rather inexperienced director but he did a great job on this film. The star of the movie is actor Glenn Scott who plays Verne Miller, a guy that works his way up into AL Capone’s (Thomas G Waites) organization and earns his trust when he becomes a top trained and deadly assassin. He has to fulfill all of Capones needs and serve him as his closest friend and protector. The movie is a gangster movie and it features many great scenes and some good screenplay. Scott Glenn is a famous and well known action actor and he do not hold back on the action is this movie either with killer moves and some wild gun shooting.
The film is based on a true story or better said a true event. When Miller hears that one of his friends is being held by the FBI in Kansas. He goes against Capnones orders and leaves to rescue his friend. This also happen in real in the late 1920s, however Capone never got connected with the incident.

This is the seventh part of Friday the 13th movies. The movie is directed by John Carl Buechler and written by Manuel Fidello and Daryl Haney. The film was released on 13 May 1988. The film got 2 nominations from Young Artist Award for best young actors and in 2005 the movie got nominated for Best DVD Extra by Golden Satellite Award. The filming takes place in Bay Minette, Alabama, USA among others and it actually got banned in Singapore because of extreme bloody scenes.

Award winning Kane Hodder plays the role as Jason, a sick and twisted serial killer that seems to be immortal and simply tries to kill everyone he see. Lar Park-Lincoln plays Tina Shepard the main victim for Jason and the only one who got enough power to fight him. The movie contains a lot of violence, killing and extreme scenes pretty much like all the other Friday the 13th movies.

The movie is creepy and full of action and Kane Hodder makes it extra creepy in his role as Jason. Unfortunately the movie is not very original but if you like the other Friday the 13th movies why not just look at this one too.

The movie was filmed in Montgomery, Alabama, USA and it was a great success nation wide.

The movie tells you about how hard it was to be black in USA in the 60’s. The movie features many truthful facts about black and white people which you will never learn at school. The movie is very educational and the screenplay is also excellent.

The plot is about 2 women in Montgomery Alabama, one is black and the other one is white. The movie takes place in 1955 and shows you the story how hard the black people really had to fight to survive at this time. Black people were forced to sit in the back of the bus and they almost worked as slaves. Still you will see how Miriam Thompson (Sissy Spacek) and Odessa Cotter (Whoopi Goldberg) managed to keep being best friends.

Secrets of the Phantom Caverns also know as What Waits Below was directed by Don Sharp and released 21 November 1985. This was one of Don Sharp latest movies and it goes under the Action/Horror genre. The cast are rather unknown except for Timothy Bottoms which played the role of Maj. Elbert Stevens. The movie was filmed on two different places first in McMinnville, Tennessee, USA. When they were done shooting here they changed location to Woodville, Alabama, USA in the Lemurian Caves.

The plot works great for a horror movie and basically the film is about The US government used deep caves as bases for special radio transmissions. One day the signal from the transmitters in the cave stop and a group of soldiers get sent to the cave to check it out. After some exploring in the cave they find a hidden tribe with people or cavemen. These men has been isolated from the rest of the world for thousand of years, and they are not to happy with the soldiers entering their cave.
This film strong side is the story as described here and not the acting for that sake. The movie offers some scary scenes and keeps you very focused about what will happen next.

Back Roads (1981)

This is a comedy from 1981 staring Tommy Lee Jones and Sally Field and filmed in Alabama and Texas. The movie is about a prostitute (Sally Field) and a drifter (Tommy Lee Jones) doing what they have to do to survive, while making their way through the rural south. This movie also has some romantic parts and you will witness to the story how the two found in live with each other. It is very easy to predict the movie how it all will end and what will happen next. However, this is still a well made movie and Tommy Lee Jones does a great performance in it. In the movie Tommy Lee Jones travels from town to town and he is doing mostly anything to get some quick cash so he can survive another day. The director Martin Ritt also did a excellent job here buy I feel he didn’t choose the right actor to play Amy Post (Sally Field) to play the prostitute. Tommy Lee Jones is simply far better than her in this movie. Back Roads door is worth your time and it is a movie you should take a look at, this was also one of the last movies from Martin Ritt which got 3 Oscars and 11 nominations for some of his previous movies.
